FASHION DESIGN ASSISTANT
We are looking for a Design Assistant to participate in the development of future Collections. This position is integral in helping the Design team with all aspects of the development process from launching initial prototypes, approving final samples, producing the runway show, to preparing for market in NY and Paris.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Source necessary trims and materials in local market as needed.
- Maintain and update Design boards with all revisions.
- Maintain and update sample tracking list and boards to monitor progress of collection development.
- Update sketches and technical packages as needed.
- Assist team during fittings.
- Collect and communicate all necessary development information to Production for costing.
- Act as intermediary between Design studio and outside contractors.
- Prepare and deliver all necessary fabrics, trims and other materials to local contractors for sample making.
- Coordinate pick up and delivery of all finished samples from contractors to Design Studio.

BACKGROUND:
- Degree from a Fashion Design or Fine Arts School.
- 1-2 years experience and/or equivalent work study experience.
- Knowledge of Manhattan Garment District and ability to navigate New York.
- Familiarity with Luxury and Advanced designer collections.
- Professional nature and motivated attitude.
- Polite and Courteous.
SKILLS:
- Natural verbal communication abilities and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel, and Word.
- Hand sketching ability.
- Knowledge of garment construction and pattern making
